Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille on Penalties to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to take a shock advantage. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to complete a convincing shootout win.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
