Heartbreaking News on Cargo Plane Crash: Fatalities Increases to 13

The number of lives lost from the freight aircraft that caught fire and went down has reached 13, as confirmed by latest announcements.

Mayor's Remarks

“On my way to the Union’s vigil, I was informed of a 13th person that passed away as a outcome of the UPS flight 2976 incident,” wrote the local official in a social media post. “My prayers are with the relatives, associates and peers of all who were taken in this week’s calamity. We will overcome this together.”

Casualties Identified

A statement from the carrier listed the officers aboard the jet as Captain Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts reach out to each staff member who has been impacted and all in our Louisville region – supporting you and ensuring you get the attention and resources you need is our priority,” the organization’s communication stated.

Probe Updates

Government investigators disclosed that the freight aircraft’s port side wing ignited and an engine detached just after liftoff from the aviation hub, causing the aircraft to fall and explode into a fireball.

The NTSB announced it is probing the jet’s maintenance history, which was in Texas for maintenance weeks before the crash.

Aircraft data indicated the aircraft was on the runway in the Texas city from 3 September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this jet was located in the facility,” stated an official on Thursday, not giving a specific period. “We will look at every piece of repairs that was completed, from the San Antonio period, straight to the day of the flight.”

Retrieval of Critical Components

The pilot’s recorder and flight data recorder were found, and the motor was discovered on the airfield.

The devices – called flight recorders – were constructed to withstand collision damage and intense fire from fires, and they looked to be in one piece when located among the wreckage. Authorities will examining recordings from the devices.

Aircraft’s last flight details displayed an elevation of that level and a speed of 210 miles per hour before the crash.

Service History

According to FAA records from last month, a fracture on a part within the center wing fuel tank demanded fixes.

The company ST Engineering, which stated it provides structural repairs for the company’s jet and manages a service location in San Antonio, chose not to comment, but said it would assist completely when relevant authorities contacted it.

Operations Restart

In the meantime, the facility operations resumed last night with its overnight also known as evening process, official Jim Mayer confirmed. The three landing strips at the aviation hub were also back in operation.

The UPS package handling facility in the city is the firm’s biggest. The center employs over 20,000 workers in the region, handles three hundred aircraft daily and sorts over four hundred thousand parcels each hour.

Community Reaction

A memorial was organized on the evening of that date by the regional labor union, which represents employees at the Louisville airport, the firm’s largest shipping facility.

Worker representatives, which stands for UPS workers, began the gathering with a period of reflection at 5.14pm, the estimated moment of the accident previously.

“This tragedy was so unexpected, so surprising,” the leader spoke to the assembly of 200. “No one had a chance to part to each of those who we have lost.”
